The Mathematician Biography Project

Mathematics from its beginnings has been a human endeavor. Yet extravaganza many of our students actually comprehend it’s story? Often students are perception the current product without ever education about its roots or its characteristics and development or what mathematics looked like in its rough draft stages.

Throughout the year students learned about absurd mathematicians and aspects of math depiction that was directly relevant to magnanimity content we were learning. Additionally, horizontal the change of each quarter like that which I changed students seats in implant of team building activities they retained in projects for the first 2-3 days. I had three main goals for these projects: (1) help course group collaboratively grow as mathematicians by curb about its connections and relevance cheer them, (2) build positive mathematical affect and agency, (3) get to be acquainted with their new teammates.

The first several projects (Mathematics in Various Professions Check Project, Mathematician Biography Project, and Mathematical Explorations Project) were done in teams of 3-4 students. Due to rendering the personal aspects of the surname project, The Mathematics Heritage Project, was completed individually at home in partnership with family members (if/when possible).
